A professor from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, United States, named Jonathan S. Dordick, new research is successful in developing a bio chip is expected to replace the place of animals in the experimental lab animal tests in the laboratory of chemical companies.
During this, animal testing has been a lot of debate between pro-contra between industrialist and environmentalist. Animal testing seems to have become negative side of each chemical research and experimentation for medical, cosmetics, chemicals and other development. Rats, rabbits, dogs, and monkeys have been used for chemical experiments for both medical and commercial purposes.
With the use of bio chip can be expected later pressing numbers on animal testing for pharmaceutical industry up to 70% from the current figure.
Dordick said that the team has made two biochip used to know the level of toxic chemicals in an experiment and medicines in human organs and Sell. Dordick further said that the biochip is different with computer chips. This chip will change color to red if the chemical substances that included kill cell and the luminous green if the chemical substances included in the chip make cell still alive. Dordick, which is one of the founders of Solidus Biosciences Inc. in New York expect to be able to commercialize this chip. So far, he says several pharmaceutical and cosmetics companies have been interested with this biochip.
